The winners of the Eutelsat TV Awards were announced on November 30 at the gala ceremony held at the Molino Stucky Hilton Venice, in the company of more than 250 international broadcasting executives.

Simon Albury, Jury Patron for the Eutelsat TV Awards!
Simon Albury, former Chief Executive of the Royal Television Society is announced as the Jury Patron of the Eutelsat TV Awards, the only international event recognising the excellence of thematic satellite broadcasting.
Simon first became well known in the UK as the Director of the Campaign for Quality Television which had decisive influence on British broadcasting legislation in 1990. He began his television career in the Investigative Bureau of World in Action, a seminal current affairs programme on British commercial television. For the next 20 years he worked at both Granada and the BBC in current affairs, documentary and music programmes.
Simon was the first Chairman of the Centre for Investigative Journalism and also chaired the British Screen Advisory Service Committee on Ethnic Minority Employment in Film.
Commenting on the Eutelsat TV Awards, Simon declared: “I have been passionate about good TV throughout my career and am therefore delighted to be associated with an event that recognises the efforts of broadcasters to raise the bar of quality programming and invite viewers to sit up and enjoy an experience that’s out of the ordinary!”

A new name for an established industry award!
The HOT BIRD™ TV Awards becomes The Eutelsat TV Awards.
The new name expresses the inclusive character of the competition open to channels broadcasting from all Eutelsat satellites.
What’s new this year?
A new category is introduced this year: the Award on Innovation to recognise the efforts by an individual channel to increase its audience and viewer awareness through initiatives such as multi-screen viewing, VOD, catch-up or 3D.
